Farmers and pilots involved in top-dressing and the activities associated with top-dressing need to be aware of the hazards of transporting, storing, and spreading fertiliser.
With CAA we have produced guidance for those in the agricultural and aviation industries who are involved with top-dressing.
The Farm airstrips and associated fertiliser cartage, storage and application safety guideline provides safety information for farmers and pilots who are involved with top-dressing. It covers farm airstrips, the activity of producing, carting and storing fertiliser, and how that affects the final application of that fertiliser by a top-dressing plane.
While this guidance has not been updated to reflect current work health and safety legislation (the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and regulations), it may still contain relevant information and practices to keep workers and others healthy and safe.
Please read this guidance in conjunction with all relevant industry standards that apply to you as a PCBU. This guidance will be progressively reviewed and either updated, replaced with other guidance, or revoked.
