All gasfitting work must be certified by a certifying gasfitter or other person authorised under the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006. This includes those authorised under an employer licence or an exemption.
Persons authorised by the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (PGDB) to certify particular types of gasfitting may, in general, certify their own work, or the work of persons they supervise.
Regulation 49 of the Gas (Safety & Measurement) Regulations 2010 (GSMRs)(external link) specifies who may issue a Certificate of Compliance (CoC).
Regulation 52B(1)(external link) of the GSMRs specifies who may issue a Gas Safety Certificate (GSC).
Gasfitting risk classification
The three level risk classification for gasfitting enables the certification of all gasfitting by varying the level of regulatory control according to risk.
