Tom is the Aorangi region grand finalist. Learn about his approach to health and safety.
Tom's the block manager for a 1,650 ha block on Caberfeidh Station which runs 4,000 ewes and 400 breeding cows. He's in charge of the day to day care of stock, set stocking, mobbing up, rotations and feed budgets. He was raised on a sheep and beef farm in Whanganui and has worked on Manawaimai in the Mangamahu Valley and Te Mania Angus Stud.
He discusses how they manage working with animals on the farm in terms of health and safety and mitigate the common day-to-day risks.
“The key to good health and safety on farm I’d say is creating positive work habits.”
