The Industry Training Federation and the Tertiary Education Commission have jointly funded a new health and safety pathway to Pathways Awarua, acknowledging health and safety as an integral part of everyday work and life. The health and safety pathway provides an opportunity to educate learners about the fundamental principles of the Health and Safety at Work Act, as well as guiding them on a personal journey to understand their role in workplace health safety. WorkSafe New Zealand has contributed to the development of these modules and supports this initiative as an introduction to workplace health and safety.
Pathways Awarua is a free interactive, online learning system intended to support adult learners to strengthen their literacy and numeracy. The modules within Pathways Awarua utilise a variety of contexts that are interesting and relevant to adult and young adult learners. Learners are able to complete at their own pace, based on the competencies.
