WorkSafe Energy Safety was notified of a fire that affected a semi-detached garage and a domestic property. The fire originated in the garage where there were a number of battery cells located. One of the batteries appeared to have significant damage and has been determined to be the cause by FENZ. Significant damage to the garage was obtained during the fire.

An investigation was completed by Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) as to the cause of the fire.
The fire was determined to be a Lithium-Ion battery fire. No makings were located on the unit so make and model was undetermined. WorkSafe Energy Safety has noted this for future reference.
Unfortunately due to the lack of details no consequential audit could be completed. Due to the lack of product identification, WorkSafe Energy Safety could not investigate further.
