Targeted consultation on revised proposals

We are carrying out targeted consultation on revised proposals for a safe work instrument (SWI) to support the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.

The proposed SWI is to specify requirements for work using ethanedinitrile (EDN).

Submissions received during public consultation between 28 February and 5 April 2020 have led to changes to some of our original proposals. For this reason, we are carrying out additional targeted consultation on the revised proposals.

Purpose of the proposed safe work instrument

The proposed SWI is required to specify requirements for work using a potential new fumigant, EDN, for the phytosanitary treatment of wood products.

Submissions during the first consultation helped determine whether the proposed requirements were appropriate for work using this substance.

We are now seeking input on revisions we have made to some of the proposals following the first consultation.
